  • OH, yeah, let's kiss Star Wars ass some more... 🙄 It's a bad story, has always been a bad story post original trilogy, and Disney doesn't give a F about the IP. It's just a cash cow to them at this point. More of a story does not always equal better; in fact, it often equals worse. Just look at The Simpsons for proof of this. Stop talking about how we need to "revere" this IP-it's not the Bible FFS. It's just a sci-fi story that started out OK, slowly got worse, and is now suffering the Disney treatment of "let's pump out as much of this as possible before people really start noticing how bad it's gotten."

  • The tracking fob can easily be explained with technology that already exists. I would assume it operates on a network which contains the other fobs, public and private chain code scanners and cameras (mounted on droids or buildings) and surveillance satellites. The only amazing thing it appears to do is scan biosigns- only it isn't that amazing considering the doctor's hand held scanner.

  • Something I would put in bad: We never needed to see Mando's face. IG still could've removed the helmet and healed him up but it all could've been done with a behind his head shot. The whole point of adopting the helmet is that it IS your face now. He is Mandalorian, that helmet is the only face he needs.

  • Its actually quite simple to understand why people connect to a person even if they have a mask is that we empathize through his actions rather than his looks or talks. In a way the Madelorian embodies the idea that actions mean more than words.

  • the mandalorian is also very interesting after rewatching a couple seasons of the clone wars. you watch mandalorians on mandalore presented as bad guys (death watch) and pacifists as the people of mandalore. you see how "the way" is downplayed by dutchess satine and the viewed violence of the mandalorians is not present when mandalore chooses neutrality between the republic and the separatists. as well, you see mandalorians regaining traction within star wars rebels with one of the titular characters being a mandalorian. it also gives build-up to the atrocities leading to the death and downfall of the people of mandalore and mandalorians.

  • The good: Mando bounces off other characters really well. Even though he's a capable warrior. He seems to lack a sense of people. It works well as an audience insert to help us get to know the world building better. Baby Yoda is an effective and compelling mystery that can be used to drive the story forward. The supporting cast is interesting as well. I wanted to get to know them and watch them interact. The Bad: The show has thus far spent far too much time going absolutely nowhere. Every episode ends with a hard reset to the status quo. Characters pop in and out of existence with little to no consequence constantly. For the first few episodes to what is hopefully a long series, this isn't great. I was left longing for additional crew members though the whole experience. Because otherwise the show is about a warrior who barely talks and can't emote through his helmet. And puppet that doesn't talk at all. When everybody for season one got together for the last episode. I thought things were finally going to get off the ground. But just like every episode so far. Mando rides off in to the sunset with the baby alone. These two characters are only interesting when there's a third party to reflect them off of. It may be personal taste. But I think some of the western tropes they're using don't work so well for this format. Especially in the first couple episodes. They leaned hard on some of those long establishing shots of characters riding over the landscape. This can be used well. But these episodes are too short for this kind of thing. It ends up feeling like filler to pad the run time on an already short story. I can enjoy some periods of silent reflection and appreciation. But episodic tv format needs a little more punch to keep going. If you've only got a half hour. By god use it for something. These shots belong in movies, not TV.

  • This has the be the most overrated show in the last few years. I’m amazed at how much people are praising this heavily flawed, amateurish thing and just piss on the movies of the same series. Yeah, the baby is cute and action is good I guess, but other than that all the fights are the same, it’s extremely predictible and has no odds. And it’s edited so wierdly. I’m not even going into the dialogue: Mando: I’m putting together a team Cara: No, I don’t do that anymore bla bla Mando: But... Cara: (looking mean) I’m in... Riiiiiiiight🙄

Some of those decisions were made on the whim sooooo long ago, it seems kinda obvious that stuff's gonna change going forward...

Andrew Ydna DuBucAndrew Ydna DuBucIl y a 8 mois
  • For the fobs, my (very sci-fi) guess is that they're a DNA-based radar system. You might not be to get close enough to your target to capture them but you could acquire a DNA sample from their last known location and load the sequence into the fobs, then rely on some Star Trek style "signs of life" probe technology to track them down. Also, the "child" may be far older than we're giving it credit. Edit: Wait, "Baby Yoda" is 50 years old. The memes have really fucked up the fandom.

  • I don’t understand the high praise. This show is so standard and predictable, front to back. There is nothing new here and what was there is merely passable. “Baby Yoda” is an obvious marketing ploy and acts as a get out of jail free card throughout the story. How many times am I suppose to care when he uses the Force to save everyone. Mando has no character and neither do any of the Mandelorians, who all die anyway. This is nothing but fanservice with western elements. I don’t get it.
