    • Funny how you make a video about cartoons & animation after shitting all over people who passionately love disney. "If you aim for kids, you are dead in the water. Adults are only kids grown up anyways." Walt Disney And he was RIGHT. The fact that your podcast shits on other's enjoyment of events or that you try to bring JUDGMENT onto those who would go to any kind of event is that they need to follow your rules and socialize? No that is your own personal opinion AND insecurities on how you SHOULD ACT that are compelling YOU to make those kind of actions during an activity that normally has adults. The middle idiot is nothing more than being a KAREN in his belief that children come first? Sorry, but bring a less than 7 year old to the parks feels cruel to me (especially with how hot it is) and that you would assume everyone had a disney childhood just proves how ignorant and rich YOUR FAMILY was in order to give you that opportunity that others COULDN'T because MONEY you dip! I am sorry, but i am unsubscribing because of those two idiot males who have power in this channel to think they can just pass judgment for no reason than because THEY don't understand it. The female was trying, the male adults, seriously screw you! I barely got to go to Disneyland as a kid because I had relatives who worked at the park, and we were too poor to stay long. You can bet your ass I will go as an adult when the pandemic is more controlled but even then I am held back by adult responsibility and lack of cash. So go ahead, flash your wealth that you can even offer an opinion, when rich assholes like you have no idea on how human emotions work for all your "deep dives" you lack the ability to understand human emotions. This is coming from a 30 year old with a BA in Psychology/Biology. You are nothing but fake if you can accept this property but not Disney. Unsubscribing for the owners of the channels dumb comments on their podcast on Disney Adults, of which I am not, but screw you for passing judgment onto others MR. KARENS.

  • I don't know where this idea of people viewing children as adults in miniature came from. Some dumbass academic saw kids dressed like their parents in some portraits and just decided it. The fact is, if you read anything old people know full well that children are different and need to be molded and shaped. Also, look at any pre-1900 portrait and you can see that the little boys and girls are both dressed in gowns, indicating that the people made a psychological distinction between children and adults, otherwise they would have considered such a desexing portrayal to be humiliating.

The Goodly DragonThe Goodly DragonIl y a jour
    • Children didn't "get engaged at the tender age of seven," their parents decided on an arranged marriage and had a ceremony to celebrate it. If they were truly seen as adults they would have been consummating their marriages at that age.

  • Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon are two cartoons had that adult theme, whoever's had the Sky box channel that flicked onto the kids channel back in the day (oh aswell all channels where sky channel had pokemon let's not forget that as part of our catatory) had a variety of kids shows with adult themes to enjoy and even find intrigued in the episodes becouse how they were written or where it would go (especially ed edd n eddy I got from it) where you went down too Disney (the below selection) it gave that strict boundary that even as a kid I didnt mind watching before going too school but I could see the comparison from cartoon network, Nickelodeon and Disney, I would say however what I found very adult and dame good was Gargoyles. That show like Batman the animated was engaging and had story there, it didnt last long though with few seasons but it was like disney let loose to explore and it pulled me in. I dont know of kid shows now, only what I know of is they seem to be still around like spongebob or have ended or have materials that dont stand strong like what we had when we were kids. That's just me though I could be wrong there must be good kid shows becouse I dont own sky box anyone. Man i miss those simpler times selective times where everything had its place.

  • I would rather argue that spongebob is a depiction of the modern adulthood refusal of growing up. Where kids have obvious reasons to relate to, the same happens with adults that are in denial of adulthood or have met other adults with the same behavior. While other cartoons like Arnold seem to give children agency in children's issues, spongebob give adulthood issues a children's solution or invest time in children's issues in a clear adult context - that's why adults laugh at it, at the expense of the ridicule of an adult acting like a child. If the depiction of a "not exactly a child not exactly an adult" marrying is not disturbing then I don't understand what exactly the cartoon was trying to acomplish with such clear adult context.

Granted - even the heavily chopped product still shows a mixture of gags that kids love along with jokes that are missed until a more mature re-view (helloooooo Animaniacs).

Oh yeah and I forgot about the film _Dragonslayer_ (1981). Walt Disney and his other 20th century successors may have sugar-coated the world for most kids to enjoy temporarily, but it never strayed away from a dark or serious reality that is common to the world you just had to be wise enough to pick up on it; that movie The Black Cauldron anything, but cute and _Dragonslayer_ that's even worse because not only do the films focus on gore, but show the characters in mortal danger and even failing to protect the ones they loved or were requested to protect (these deaths are brutally shown on screen as well.)

Even as a kid, I really disliked when the character would talk to the screen and try to prompt me to spell or something like that. I preferred shows like Cyberchase where the characters explored math within the show without calling out to the audience to do it, too.
