There was drama at the Monaco Historique where veteran driver Jean Alesi was taken out by Marco Werner. Alesi was leading the 1973-76 F1 era car race and holding off a determined second placed Werner. But with just three laps remaining Werner's Lotus 77 ran into the back Alesi's Ferrari 312B3, ending Alesi's race and putting Werner into the lead.

  • It's usually on the approach to a corner where you get rear-end collisions. You don't hit the back of a car accelerating away from a corner unless something happened, to reduce its acceleration, such as when there's a missed gear. A tough call I would say.

That and the black lines from sudden under-rotation of the rears. The Lotus had nowhere to go. I’d imagine the damage to that Ferrari didn’t stop at external stuff!
