  • I feel like the thing with todds mom was meant to develop over a few seasons but with the show being cancelled they didn't have the time to do what they wanted to do but still wanted to show that just because things seem to always work out for todd that doesn't mean he doesn't have home problems (I think they were gonna show that todds entire happy go lucky attitude was his way of feeling in control or something like that I think todds mother should have been a helicopter parent tho because that would explain how happy he is to just live on someones couch because he feels like the situation doesn't matter as long as he can practice free will without being stopped that could explain why hes so child like because he never got to acctually be a kid because of his mothers obsession with keeping him safe from the world he never did anything fun when he was younger so hes making.up for it now that he can

  • Weird how they didn't touch base on Hollyhock's letter. I never really got closure with her. She just disappears out of nowhere. Some say they did it on purpose as a way to show us how Bojack is really cut off from her life. Some say they didn't show it as a way to say that only Bojack knows what's in the letter and that he's taking that secret along to his grave, since he no scenes ever show Bojack talking about Hollyhock to other people. Some also say that it's the writer's way to say that Bojack got cut off from Hollyhock's life just like that and he never got closure, by not showing us the letter it also shows us how we're not getting closure. I just find it sad how I'll never know what was in that letter that got Bojack to relapse.

  • 28:49 I don’t think the show is stating that there is no afterlife. I think, because it takes place in BoJack’s own psyche, that it’s BoJack saying their is nothing on the other side because that is what he has been taught and it’s what he believes. Even though Herb says it, it all still takes place in BoJack’s mind.

  • I think its important to have humans in the world of the series, because it shows how animals and humans are in the same level, which is part of the whole "as humans we are still animals" thing that you talked about earlier in the video. So I think having humans and animals both act like humans and also like animals was an important part of the show.

  • I have to disagree about 'getting rid of the humans' point. I think that comparison between humans and non-human animals is way more thought-provoking. Yeah, the sex stuff is weird, but I think the earlier point that the show forces us to acknowledge that humans are animals is only as confronting as it is because the *animals* are acting the same as the other *humans* on the screen (plus there's that chicken farm, meat-industry commentary in the second season...)

  • I have to disagree with you guys on Todd’s serious moments being bad. I think Todd’s serious moments are where we learn the most about him as a person and stop seeing him for the laughs he can give us and more like a fleshed out person. I think this shows that it doesn’t matter what we expect from a person: we shouldn’t box someone in by what they mean to us or what we need them for. Everyone deserves to feel like they can be taken seriously, even when they usually aren’t. Even when they are Todd.

  • I love that they mentioned the clothes. The costume design was the most mesmerizing thing about the animation style to me. Their clothing elevated the locations that the show was taking place in and the colorful personalities of the characters. Like, those were actually clothes that people would really wear in LA, or Chicago, or New Mexico and made me really feel like the characters were in that place

  • With the whole thing about Death in Bojack I both agree and disagree. Now I don't know what the writers and the creator had in mind when they said their is no other side. But how I see it is, this all in Bojack's mind. Bojack never been shown to be religious at all. So for him there isn't an other side, so how he can redeem himself is by living his life not by being a memory.

  • I never really saw bestiality as an issue here because the wild or domesticated animals aren't behaving like their base selves, but rather like humans. Being anthropomorphic has them at the same level as humans mentally, and therefore infers that they couldn't be taken advantage of for not being human - seeing as they'd have the intellectual capacity and (if they're an adult) the maturity to consent just as if they were one. I feel that in this case, it couldn't be morally reprehensible.
