  • Haven't seen the most recent Blumhouse productions - Invisible man, You Should Have Left. Having said that, it appears to me, that as correctly pointed out, these movies take place in "a" home, but the focus isn't on the home as much as the focus is on the people and how their ideals and beliefs are ultimately destructive for their relationships, if not identified, confronted, and addressed. You can then tuck the other movies like Fantasy Island into their formula (Oh god, Fantasy Island...sheesh...Keep the money. I want that time refunded.)

  • I have mixed feelings with Blumhouse. With some exceptions, I feel like a lot of their films overuse cheap jump scares. Not that jump scares are bad, but it should only be used when there is a legitimately dangerous threat

  • Great video, guys, I was worried your last ones weren't making it for me. You forgot to mention "Ouija: origin of evil", by the great Mike Flanagan (Hill House Netflix series showrunner), in which the horror of the house comes from the entities searching for a conduit or voice to speak after being silenced, tortured and killed in the past... Sounds like a prophetic commentary on recent protests and marches... Thanx!!!

  • Blumhouse was supposed to make Spawn. I'm curious to know how they would have approached that and tie it too home. Would Spawn bet set in a massive House of God Cathedral the whole time? It could work. The top could be closest to heaven and redemption. The middle could be human threats and scum baggery. The lower levels is the descent into evil.

  • PLEASE DO THE BABYSITTER (2017) Its so weird, its a horror movie with jarring moments of care and nurture towards the young protagonist mixed in with the attempted murders. Genuinely wracks your brain for the WTF factor and would love to see your take on the movie.

  • They... They make the best horror today? God the entire genre is doomed. Other than get out and most of us, I have never sat threw a blumhouse film for any reason other than laughing at the bad acting. Its this brand of cheap, uninspired crap that has caused me no longer go to horror movies with expectations. Paranormal Activity is the most repetitive, unoriginal and poorly made 5 part series I have ever seen, and your here trying to say they don't repeat themselves? Insidious was just the omen but worse, sinister's poster was better than a single scene in the movie, and the halloween remake, ontop of being a bloody remake and thus hardly like, original, was an insult to the classic. God damned rob freaking zombie makes better horror films than these clowns and I don't even like his crap.

  • so I for one can't stand horror movies they just aren't for me but blumhouse and their whole ideology is frankly genius and I wish all hollywood would adopt their model especially the notion about budgets being as small as possible cause too many films fail not because they don't make enough money but because their budgets are so big that it only becomes harder and harder to make it back let alone make a profit never mind the fact that most films with big budgets seem to have no creativity or even interesting insights since those two only happen under restriction or limitation only then can the spark of imagination truly take place
