I really should be doing more to fight against unethical marketing practices.

  • I'm sure like most people will agree, woke ads are perfectly fine if they're actively trying to teach something or change the minds of some group. But they're not okay when they're wither just woke to be woke or if they are like "Haha.. Ok Boomer, you're racist... haha" Like those aren't trying to make you learn anything.

  • She totally doesn't get it. Woke ads are about SHAMING one group to get a point across. Gillette ads for example were shaming masculinity and men... That's the problem

"Causes in support for ending police brutality is at an all time high", hehehe. It's not for that, and the fact that support has plunged to 36%, is proof people are waking up to that.

  • Companies are the most woke thing in the world, they don’t care if you’re black white green orange what ever they only care about your money and I respect that. What I don’t respect is the stupid ads pretending to educate the public about being woke. The saying hell is full of good intentions and heaven is full of good works is slightly wrong. Because your intentions matter too if you pretend to be woke just to capitalize on woke liberals to get their money then you’re not doing it for the right reasons and thats what makes people mad. It’s at best a half ass statement and at worst a controversial ploy to get your company more attention

I'm seeing that what many companies call "diversity" doesn't necessarily include representation from all ethnic groups, or persons with disabilities. Do persons with Native ancestrys and persons with disabilities have to become a trend in order to be seen?

Marketing will always work as long as there are enough braindead people in this world who are easy to brainwash. How do you think religions are still a thing in the 21st century ?

  • In Kapitalism the endgame is that a few megacorporations outcompete or just buy out all competition. You obviously see this in the tech sector (Amazon, Google, Facebook, Tencent,..) but most brands you see in the grocery store are owned by a handfull megacorporations ( coca cola, unilever, nestle, pepsi, Proctor and gamble,..) Tell me what is the difference with having a few state owned megacorporations in communism then?

  • Woke brands are not pushing diversity in the middle east, China, India, Nigeria,... No Nigerian one want"s more whites or Asians in their government, no Japonese wants more Black and white people in their government. The world acts as if only white european people must share their homeland with the rest of the world. Meanwhile they push whites out of Africa, be racist to whites and blacks in Asia. If we are going to play identity politics, and we are doing exactly that, white people must also unite based on our skincolour. Not to pretend we are superior, but to protect what is ours, just like every other identity group is doing.

That company getting banned from conservative countries and the people there being worse off due to not having more purchasing options. The private sector aren't supposed to be societal trailblazers. Where society goes, they follow, simple as that. You don't get that, you're mistaking what corporations are for.

  • Lol, It's almost like these corporations have everything to gain if we are manipulated to fight among each other and believe we all hate each other. If that were true, any form of tolerating a civil dialogue about these subjects would be their worst fear, and perpetuating the notion that any threat to one's agenda would have to be demonized and labeled as an enemy with great urgency. That would be crazy if corporations and Media bigwigs did everything in their marketing power to make an "Us vs. Them" scenario on a national level. Just... crazy. HA! Good thing that's not happening.

  • An argument in favor of woke adverstising would be that it normalizes issues that are still controversial, like a Gillette ad that shows a father teaching his trans son how to shave for the first time. Ads are part of the cultural climate of a region, and it is normal that they feel the need to take a stand in regards to a social cause. As a consumer, I don't fool myself buying stuff just because it has good advertising (or thinking that police brutality will end for buying a Pepsi); but I also think that if brands choose to incorporate social causes in their adverstigin/marketing/branding, then they should also be held accountable for what they represent. So, in the example I mentioned, Gillette should not only aim at selling to young trans men, but also develop a corporate culture inclusive for LGBTI people, taking seriously the cause they use in ads. And, it they don't, then they should be called on it and be held accountable for their hypocrisy.

  • I don't like woke ads. Companies who make them don't actually support those ideals. Does this mean the ideas behind the ad are wrong? No. Is it completely dishonest and a lifeless corporate attempt at cashing in on actual fucking issues instead of actually taking action on the issues they claim to support? 100% yes. It's the case of love the sin, not the sinner.
